Description: Maimuna was born in The Gambia, but grew up in Atlanta, GA. She majors in Government and Politics, with minors in Arabic and Social Justice. She enjoys interdisciplinary approaches to understanding the world and has dedicated her undergraduate research and senior thesis to the intersections of identity and security. She has served as a Diversity Peer Educator at St. John’s University, and was also a 2018 Rangel Scholar. She is fluent in Mandinka and Wolof, with proficiency in Arabic.
