The ISF Judicial Internship Scholarship offers funding for law students who will intern with a state or federal judge. Eligible applicants who have been offered a judicial internship of at least 8-weeks can apply for this $2500 stipend.
A Pipeline Program
The ISF Judicial Internship Scholarship is devoted to promoting and encouraging diversity and inclusion in the field of public interest law. Whether interning in Summer, Fall, or Spring semester, interns will gain real-world experience in the courtrooms and chambers of federal and state judges.
Goal
The ISF Judicial Internship Scholarship aims to expose American Muslim students to the privileges and responsibilities of working in a judge's chambers. The program promotes and encourages diversity and inclusion in the public interest law field.
The Process
Students that have received an offer for a judicial internship from a state or federal judge are eligible to apply. Students may count the program as an externship, in accordance with the rules of the students' respective law school. Students who receive the scholarship will receive a $2500 stipend.
Eligibility
- Active member of the Muslim community
- Enrolled as a first-year or second-year law student at an accredited law school in the U.S.
- Received an offer for a judicial internship from a state or federal judge OR an ISF Law Scholarship recipient who is applying for a judicial internship through Just the Beginning
- A U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the United States or a DACA recipient.
- Preference may be given to those not receiving funding for the judicial internship from another source

Program Timeline
Application
ISF will start accepting online applications for the ISF Scholarship at the beginning of December of each year.
Deadline
The deadline to apply for an ISF Scholarship (required for internship consideration) is late March or early April each year.
Application Review
The Selection Committee will review applications from April-May
Scholarship Awarded
Final decisions will be made in May and scholarships will be awarded shortly after.
Internship Begins
Exact internship dates will be negotiated between candidates and the judge who will host them. Since the internship can happen in Spring, Summer, or Fall, the start date will likely be at the beginning of each of those respective semesters.
Sessions & Workshops
Interns are encouraged to attend ISF-hosted sessions and workshops throughout their internship period.
Exit Interview
Interns will end the program with an exit interview. Upon completion, participants can join the ISF alumni network and continue to receive mentorship and support.
