Description: Nora Zaki, Master of Divinity, graduated in June 2017 from the University of Chicago specializing in Islamic Studies, Arabic and chaplaincy. She completed 400 hours of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from August 2017 to January 2018 at Tampa General Hospital as the first Muslim student in the program. CPE is an interfaith professional education for ministry. It brings theological students and ministers of all faiths (pastors, priests, rabbis, imams and others) into supervised encounter with persons in crisis. Out of an intense involvement with persons in need, and the feedback from peers and teachers, students develop new awareness of themselves as persons. She is currently an Arabic/English editor for the interfaith publishing company Fons Vitae and writes for the blog, State of Formation. She is also a monthly radio show guest speaker on Azan based in Northwestern University in Chicago. Topics have included Sufism, spirituality, race, spiritual care, and purification of the self (tazkiya al-nafs).
