Description: Shonnan Usman is junior Public Relations major with a minor in Information Technology, Design, and Startups, at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY). He’s won awards in poetry, leadership, and public speaking. Shonnan has been featured in various media outlets, including the front page of the Post-Standard, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) Ramadan Stories at Sunset Blog, and has published work in the Message International Magazine. He serves as the President of the Youth Activity Council at the Islamic Society of Central New York, is a 2015 MPAC Washington D.C. Summit Delegate, and is a Say Yes to Education Scholar. This past year, Shonnan was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award from the White House for his service to the Syracuse Community.
