Description: Anwar Milbes Hijaz is a PhD student at the University of California, Riverside whose research focuses on the assessment of the primary driving factors of tolerance towards Muslims and other minorities in the United States. Anwar earned her bachelors degree in Political Science with an emphasis on international relations from the University of California Riverside, where she graduated magna cum laude with honors. As an undergraduate student Anwar worked as a peer counselor for international students and was actively involved in the MSA. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, she served as an intern at the CAIR, where she used her skill-set as a political scientist to organize voter registration campaigns, interpret ballot measures, make recommendations to the Muslim community, and participate in meetings with local elected officials. Anwar looks forward to producing a body of work in her Ph. D. that is both scientifically and practically applicable and beneficial to the Muslim community.
