Description: Syed (Umar) Farooq was is a 2014 ISF Alum who received his Bachelor’s in International Relations and Economics, with Honors, from Claremont McKenna College. While there, he completed study abroad coursework at the Noor Majan Training Institute in Ibri, Oman and AMIDEAST’s facility in Amman, Jordan in 2015. While in Amman, Umar worked as a Research Assistant in the Innovation Division of UNICEF where he conducted research on the viability of Islamic financing options for UNICEF projects and the effects of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on the Jordanian labor market. He also previously worked for Accenture as a Software Developer before transitioning to Alloy, where he now works as a Senior Software Engineer in the Washington, DC area.
