Description: Rasheeda Munira Plenty will be a junior at Zaytuna College in this upcoming academic year and is pursuing a degree in Islamic Law and Theology. Her time thee afforded her the opportunity to participate in developing an oral history project connected to issues of redlining in historic Kansas City neighborhoods, in organizing annual literature symposiums, and in building a translation initiative aimed at supporting new translators, among many other projects. Her translations of contemporary Arabic poetry have been published in several literary magazines, including Banipal, Pleiades, and the Washington Square Review. Rasheeda, also, attended Zaytuna’s Summer Arabic Intensive for three summers, which ignited her love of the language and cemented her desire to be a part of the integral endeavor that is Zaytuna College. Her time, while focused on classes and studying, is also filled with involvement in local community and student organizations, which has allowed her to gain further experience.
