Name: Ahmad Kattaa
Recipient Year: 2023
Congressional Office: Rep. Katherine Clark
Description: Graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, holding a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History. My journey towards a career in policy and legislation was sparked during my childhood days of protest on the steps of the California Capitol, where I was born and raised. Witnessing the scarcity of individuals in suits who entered the capitol, I recognized the need for Muslim representation in the realm of policy-making. I am passionate about exploring the intersections of history and politics, which led me to complete a thesis titled "The Discursive American Proxy: Soviet Union and Hama Massacre of 1982." Previous work with Dianne Feinstein's San Francisco office and as an editor of UC Berkeley's largest and only nonpartisan political magazine helped me amplify Muslim voices in spaces where we are often marginalized.
