Description: Marwa Abdalla is a graduate student in the School of Communication at San Diego State University where her research focuses both on public discourse and the communication of identity as they relate to American Muslims. Marwa received her B.A. in political science from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where she was a President’s Scholar, and then went on to study Quran and Islam with the American Open University. Marwa was recently the recipient of the Young Scholar Award for Outstanding Research on American Muslims given by the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding and the President’s Award for student research at San Diego State University. Marwa regularly speaks on the challenges and opportunities of American Muslims, and enjoys sharing her research at schools, universities, and faith centers throughout San Diego County.
