Description: Fawzia Mirza is a writer/director/creator, she's made and worked on short doc and fiction films, web series and features. She is one of ’10 Filmmakers to Watch’ (Independent Magazine), a White House ‘Champion of Change’ in Asian American Art & Storytelling, a 3Arts Acting Grant Recipient, a Djerassi Program Writing Resident. Her first feature, SIGNATURE MOVE, (co-writer/producer/star), world premiered at SXSW, screened 150+ film festivals internationally and won 14 awards (Outfest Grand Jury Prize, Best US Narrative). She wrote on CBS limited series THE RED LINE (EPs – Greg Berlanti & Ava Duvernay). Her play-turned-screenplay, ME, MY MOM AND SHARMILA is an SFFILM Rainin grantee, participated in the 2020 TIFF Writers Studio and Filmmaker Lab and shoots in Canada and Karachi 2022. Her new short NOOR & LAYLA reclaims ritual through the love story of two queer, Muslim women and she is one of five women writer/directors selected to Paul Feig/Powderkeg's film incubator, FUSE 2, going into production summer 2021.
