Description: Fatima is a second-year student at Wayne State University Law School in Detroit. She graduated from Wayne State in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Public Policy and a minor in Near Eastern and Islamic Studies. While at WSU and during her gap year, Fatima worked in the Michigan Legislature for State Representative Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn), where she researched and developed social, health, and environmental policy for Michigan's most vulnerable residents. Most recently, Fatima was in Washington D.C. working as a law clerk for the U.S. House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, a historic committee chaired by Majority Whip James E. Clyburn that works to investigate the waste, fraud, and abuse of the Trump Administration's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At WSU Law, Fatima hopes to combine her policy background with her legal education for a career in the public sector after graduation, working to advance Muslim representation and influence in domestic policy-making.
