Description: Mariama Jallow is a recent college graduate from Wake Forest University and will be attending Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in the Fall of 2022. Mariama is from The Gambia and spent most of her life in Saudi Arabia before moving to North Carolina for college. During her time at college, Mariama was president of the Muslim Student Association, the undergraduate representative of the Slavery, Race and Memory Project and co-chair of Diversity and Inclusion on Student Government. Mariama was also an active member of other organizations. In addition to contributing to her school newspaper, she interned for The Standard newspaper in The Gambia and NC Health News in North Carolina. Mariama is excited to embark on her new journey at Columbia and hopes to strengthen her reporting skills while diving into the world of broadcast journalism.
