Description: Nasir Almasri is a Predoctoral Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School and a PhD Candidate in Political Science at the MIT. His research centers social movements in the US, the Middle East, and elsewhere. He has worked in higher education administration, contributed written editorials, and worked on numerous community-based and international projects in St. Louis, Chicago, Boston, and Vancouver. In pursuing a career as an academic, Nasir hopes to reframe narratives regarding Islam and Muslims in public, academic, and policy discourses and to more broadly advocate for social justice in marginalized communities. Nasir was born and raised in Chicago. He graduated with a B.S. in Political Science and B.A. in History from Southern Illinois University, where he also served as the President of the Student Body. He then completed his M.A. in International Relations with Honors at the University of Chicago.
