Description: Sumer is a second-year student at Yale Law School. She was born in Toronto and grew up in the Metro Detroit area. She graduated from the University of Michigan in Dearborn in 2017 with three majors in economics, political science, and philosophy through the honors program. While in law school, Sumer has worked with the San Francisco Affirmative Litigation Project, a clinic at Yale that empowers affirmative local government action. Through the clinic, Sumer has engaged more critically with doctrinal legal questions and broad constitutional issues such as federalism. Sumer has studied and currently conducts research in statutory interpretation, administrative law, national security law, and strategic litigation. She is especially interested in appellate litigation at the intersection of immigration and administrative law. She hopes to continue exploring these topics both academically and professionally.
