He graduated summa cum laude from CUNY City College where he studied Public Relations, Marketing and Political Science. He's the lead Campaign & Creative Strategist at DoSomething.org, and serves on the board of MAS (Muslim American Society) Brooklyn-Staten Island, which oversees and operates three community centers in NYC. He has previously served as a Youth & Civic Engagement Organizer at the Arab American Association of NY, completed several internships at leading marketing, PR, and media production firms, and worked on several progressive local and national political campaigns. He’s also the co-founder and director of NY MSA Showdown — the first talent tournament organization catered to Muslim college students in NY. As a first generation Yemeni-American, Malik is passionate about issues surrounding a more just foreign policy, democracy & election reform, economic equity, and racial justice.
