    Recipient Year: 2020

Description: Farah Eltohamy is a student at Arizona State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication. She is finishing up an internship at NPR and her job as diversity officer for ASU's student newspaper. Prior to that -- Farah was the state politics intern for the Arizona Republic, reported for both Cronkite News D.C. and Phoenix, and freelanced for National Geographic. Over the summer, she'll be joining Texas Tribune as their Washington reporting fellow before returning to ASU to complete her Master's degree.  Farah is a proud Egyptian-American Muslim woman and feels that her identities shaped her into the journalist she is today. Her biggest passion is diversity and fair representation in news. She can take on any assignment given to her -- but the beats she loves to report on the most are politics and social justice.  Outside of journalism, Farah's other hobbies include: painting, baking, fashion, biking and of course -- spending time with her grumpy old cat, Tito.
