Description: Isra Syed is entering her first year at Yale Law School. She recently graduated from Yale College with a degree in History–as a staff member at the Yale Women’s Center and the Asian American Cultural Center, she spent much of her time as a student working to build brave spaces for women and students of color on campus. She has previously worked at a refugee resettlement agency in New Haven, as well as at the Department of Justice. the State Department Sri Lanka Desk, and a legal aid organization for migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong. Originally hailing from Sacramento, CA, Isra hopes to begin a career in legal advocacy to advance racial and gender justice in the United States. She is particularly interested in the criminal justice system, and community based approaches to addressing its flaws.
