Description: Meral Kocak is a Legal Fellow at Project South in Atlanta, Georgia, where she works on surveillance law and protest rights for BIPOC communities. She has a J.D. in civil rights and criminal defense from Georgetown Law and has worked at a number of legal and social justice organizations including the ACLU National Prison Project, Georgetown Law Civil Rights Clinic, Los Angeles Public Defenders Office, Asian Americans Advancing Justice, and the ACLU of Maryland. She has a Masters in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Melbourne. Before law school, she was a Science, Religion, and Culture Fellow at the History of Science department at Harvard University, and interned with the Center for Social Rights, the Harvard Prison Education Project, the Institute for Social and Political Understanding, and MuslimARC.
