Description: Laila Ikram graduated from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, and previously earned a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies, with a focus on gender and religion from Arizona State. Laila completed internships with the Honorable Judge Donn Kessler at the Arizona Court of Appeals, the Civil Rights division of the Arizona Attorney General’s office, as well as Federal Court for the Honorable Judge Douglas L. Rayes. Laila has been involved with several local and national Muslim organizations throughout her career. Along with being the first Muslim Arizona state judge, Laila was the first judge in Arizona's history to wear a hijab on the bench, and the first judge to swear the oath of office on a Quran.
